CPA and Estates & Trusts Attorney Matt Mentzer Joins Foulston Siefkin’s Overland Park Office

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – CPA and estate planning attorney Matt Mentzer has joined Foulston Siefkin LLP’s Overland Park office. Previously the lead tax attorney for a large national wealth management company, Mentzer’s 15 years of accounting and legal experience encompasses trusts, estates, probate, and tax matters.
Mentzer frequently works with high-net-worth clients to develop and implement income and gift/estate tax minimization and mitigation strategies. His experience also includes serving as tax counsel on M&A transactions. He represents clients before the US Tax Court, IRS Office of Appeals, and state taxing authorities on various tax issues and controversies and has represented clients ranging from C-suite officers of Fortune 500 companies to startup founders undergoing initial rounds of funding.
Prior to his leadership position in the wealth management firm, Mentzer spent more than a decade in private practice focused on estate planning, trust administration, and tax planning. He is a member of the American Bar Association Tax Section as well as a member of the Kansas Bar Association, the Missouri Bar, Johnson County Bar Association, and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. Mentzer is a two-time University of Kansas graduate, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting as well as his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law.
