  • Wage Garnishments and Payroll Deductions – June 14, 2017
    This session will address various wage deduction issues as well as the proper handling of garnishments and the impact of failing to do so.

  • Employment Law Myth Busters: Exposing Common Misconceptions about Wage-and-Hour Law, Employee Handbooks, and Other Workplace Issues – June 28, 2017
    Fact or Fiction?  Law or Legend?  Truth or Tall Tale? As Mark Twain famously said, “It’s not what you don’t know that kills you, it’s what you know for sure that ain’t true.” This lively session will explore some of the most-enduring urban legends of employment law to confirm or “bust” the myth. Disclaimer:  No unicorns will be harmed during this presentation.

  • All About Employment Agreements – July 12, 2017
    We will explore a wide variety of topics related to employment agreements.  This will range from various clauses you might find in an agreement and includes intellectual property protections, restrictive covenants like confidentiality, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.

  • The Latest from the EEOC: New Guidance on Harassment, National Origin Discrimination, Mental Health Conditions, and Transgender Workers – July 26, 2017
    The EEOC had a busy year last year, issuing new guidance on national origin discrimination and the rights of employees with mental health conditions, proposing new guidance on harassment in the workplace, and distributing new fact sheets related to transgender workers, among other things. During this session, we will provide an up-to-date report on these and other EEOC actions since last year and will discuss what we expect to see from the EEOC in the upcoming years.

  • Benefits Update – August 7, 2017
    What’s new in the employee benefits area?  This session will bring everyone up to date on changes to employee benefit plans and ensure you are up to date with all the necessary compliance items. 

  • If It’s Not In Writing It Didn’t Happen: Document Retention Guidelines for Employers – August 23, 2017
    In the past document retention was all about keeping paper files.  In our modern era of clouds, email, backup tapes, and cheap server space employers can retain significant content either intentionally or unintentionally.  This session will explore the issues surrounding document retention and discuss best practices to ensure you aren’t overdoing or underdoing document retention.

  • Hot Issues in Employment Law – September 27, 2017
    This session will explore court decisions, new legislation and regulatory developments as we transition from the Obama Administration into the new Trump Administration.

  • Immigration Update – October 11, 2017
    This session will provide an overview of immigration law issues for employers as well as provide an update on changes to immigration law.

  • Performance Management – November 8, 2017
    We will explore various issues surrounding employee performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary processes relating to employee performance.

  • Federal Contractor Affirmative Update – November 16, 2017
    Nearly a year into the Trump Administration, what has changed for Federal Contractors? We’ll take a look at what has—and hasn’t—changed and where Federal Contractor compliance might be headed in the future.

  • Are You Prepared for the New Year – December 13, 2017
    Are you all set for the holiday season?  Did you finish off all your employment law to do list for 2017?  This session will serve as a wrap-up for all those 2017 to do list items and discuss the upcoming trends for 2018.

HALF-DAY SESSIONS: Each session will last from 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM

  • OSHA Compliance – September 13, 2017
    What would you do if OSHA showed up at your facility wanting to conduct an inspection?  This session will prepare you for that eventuality and provide an overview of what to expect once OSHA issues a citation.  We will also cover a variety of OSHA regulations and explore recent changes at OSHA.

  • FLSA Issues – October 25, 2017
    This session will delve into a wide variety of FLSA issues.  We’ll discuss the requirements for exempt status under the white-collar exemptions, including some scenarios to highlight potential pitfalls when conduct position classification reviews, and cover the standards for calculating compensable hours and calculating overtime for non-exempt employees.  We’ll also address some practical issues that arise in all of these contexts.

HR Box Lunch Sessions will be held at Corporate Woods, where Foulston Siefkin is located, from 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM. Half-day training sessions will be at the same location from 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM.

Registration Fee:

The registration fee for each HR Box Lunch is $60 per attendee per session and includes lunch. Each half-day session is $170 per attendee per session. You can register by fax or mail.
