Jack Focht, Retired

Mr. Focht retired from the firm in 2016 with over fifty years of experience as an attorney. Throughout his career, Mr. Focht’s practice ranged from high-profile criminal cases to complex civil litigation. Mr. Focht directed the defense of numerous individuals and companies targeted for investigation by agencies of the state and federal government. For nearly twenty years with Foulston Siefkin, he practiced as special counsel to the firm’s health care and litigation practice groups in the areas of health care law, fraud and abuse, white collar crime, civil rights, employment law, professional responsibility, government investigations, and business litigation. Mr. Focht enjoyed Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory’s highest "AV" rating for lawyers. He was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1982. Fellowship in the College is limited to the top one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province. Mr. Focht was also listed in every edition of The Best Lawyers in America® since its inception in 1983, was named a leading litigation lawyer in the United States by Chambers USA, a national research publication, and was selected by his peers for inclusion in the Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers® List. In 2013, he was named the Wichita Criminal Defense: White Collar Lawyer of the Year by The Best Lawyers in America®. He served as President of both the Wichita and Kansas Bar Associations and received a number of awards including the Distinguished Service Award, the highest award, from each organization. He has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from his Law School, Washburn University School of Law and the Wichita Bar Association. Prior to his retiring, Mr. Focht’s peer memberships included the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers.
